From the Zulus of South Africa to the Navajo and Hopi tribes in the American Southwest, this exhibit will feature stories, through the search for baskets, from all over the world.
For 40 years, basket collector Nancy Schermer was propelled by the desire to locate and collect the world's best baskets. This exhibition will highlight the results of her travels with stories of evolution: of the form, materials, and use of baskets, and of the collector herself, as she became immersed in the cultures whose baskets she collected.
